1 DRAWING ATOMIC MODELS

2 Element Name Atomic Mass
Before We Begin…. Atomic Number Atomic Symbol Element Name Atomic Mass

3 In an Atom…… Protons and Neutrons are located in the nucleus of an atom Electrons are found outside of the nucleus in the orbital rings Protons are equal to the atomic number Electrons are also equal to the atomic number Neutrons are found by subtracting your atomic number from your atomic mass

4 How Many Electrons in Each Orbital?
1st orbital = 2 electrons 2nd Orbital = 8 Electrons 3rd Orbital = 18 Electrons 4th Orbital = 32 Electrons

5 REMEMBER!!! The LOWER orbital MUST be full before you start filing the higher orbitals (ex) The 1st orbital MUST have two electrons in it BEFORE you start filling the 2nd orbital

6 LET’S PRACTICE!!!
