5 The Perfect King (11:1-5) v.1 “A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.”

6 The Perfect King (11:1-5) vv.2-3a 2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord— 3 and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.

7 The Perfect King (11:1-5) vv.3b-4 He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.

6The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. 7The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8Infants will play near the hole of the cobra; young children will put their hands into the viper’s nest.

11 The Perfect Kingdom (11:6-9)
v.9 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

v In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.

11In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the surviving remnant of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the Mediterranean

v He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth.

v.13 13Ephraim’s jealousy will vanish, and Judah’s enemies will be destroyed Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim.

V The Lord will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian sea; with a scorching wind he will sweep his hand over the Euphrates River. He will break it up into seven streams so that anyone can cross over in sandals.

V There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt.

18 Who is this Perfect King?
Isaiah 9:6 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

19 Who is this Perfect King?
Matthew 1:1, 2, 6, 16 1This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah [Christ] the son of David, the son of Abraham: 2 Abraham was the father of Isaac… 6 …and Jesse the father of King David… 16…and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah [Christ].

20 Who is this Perfect King?
Matthew 3:13–17 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Luke 7:20–22 (NIV) 20 When the men came to Jesus, they said, “John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?’ ” 21 At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. 22 So he [Jesus] replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.

22 Who is this Perfect King?
Isaiah 11:1212 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles… assemble the scattered… from the four quarters of the earth. John 12:31–33 31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.

23 Conclusion What will the perfect world/kingdom look like?
It will be ruled by King Jesus. It will be a perfect world as Isaiah prophesized. It will be the dwelling place for repented sinners from all nations who turns to the banner of the cross of King Jesus.
