Your 24/7 access to the latest HR, benefits and payroll compliance issues, including state laws! This short overview offers a sampling of the many features available to users.

Welcome to a brief tutorial on AnswersNow, released Spring, 2017. The Home screen contains a main command bar and (3) important sections. 2

3 AnswersNow includes: Tools, news & analysis!
The three sections or portlets are: Tools, What’s New and Browse (tree) Content. Browse into HR compliance databases – over 5,300 analysis documents. Includes hundreds of sample policies!

4 Quick access to HR Tools!
Tools provide links to a variety of HR compliance documents, internet resources and menu driven tools. You can use these tools to create customized Job Descriptions, Performance Reviews and compare state laws, too name just a few. Simply launch these tools and they will open in a new window; document links will open in the same window. CCH editors focus you on important issues!

5 Daily “What’s New” to Help You Stay Compliant!
What’s New provides news stories that have been provided in the last 24-hours. Simply click on any title to view the text of the article. Daily news covering Federal and State employment law changes!

6 Easily browse to Answers with the browse content pane!
Browse into the HR compliance databases – to find over 8,000 analysis documents! Includes hundreds of sample documents & policies!! The browse tree content pane contains your research library, acting as an electronic table of contents, allowing you to explore major topics and sub-topics. You can expand a node by simply clicking a topic - click it again to close or you can click open another sub-topic. As you open sections they will appear on the right side of your screen, click open a document to view it in the reading pane. 6

7 From the Tools area, there’s easy access to the latest on Health Reform coverage
From this document view, additional navigation is easy – use the Next/previous ‘read’ links OR the embedded document links OR the bread crumb trail OR the left navigation panel for more detailed documents on your topic

8 Numerous document management options!
Add document to ‘Favorites’ for easy retrieval! Add a note to the document; and , save or print options The document view pane contains a variety of options to either manage the document or to continue your research. Use the tool bar in the upper right portion of the page to Print, Save or your document. You can also tag this document as a ‘Favorite’ to store it for easy retrieval – just click the ‘Favorites’ link to begin. 8

9 ‘Favorite’ documents can be organized in folders for easy retrieval!
Use the default folder for quick setup or create a new folder! The title of your document is already copied, simply select the drop-down menu in the ‘Save your Folder’ section – choose between the default ‘Favorites’ folder or Create Folder. To create a folder, simply type in a name and click Save & Close. Your document is now stored in your research folder which can be retrieved by clicking the ‘Favorites’ link in the main command bar. Name your bookmark document– that’s it! 9

10 Add a note to your document!
Click ‘Add Note’ to insert a note into the margin of the document! You can also add a note to a document! Simply click the ‘Add Note’ item in the upper left corner and type your message in the text box, then click either ‘Save & Close’ or ‘Save and See all Notes’. Stored searches are a way of creating alerts and for saving favorite searches Manage Bookmarks allows user to access tagged documents and even create folders 10

11 Manage your ‘Favorites’ and ‘Notes’
Name your bookmark document– that’s it! Use the default folder for quick setup or create a new folder! You can manage your folders and documents all from one screen using the command bar options. You can click on the article to retrieve the article; you can also open of PDF version of your Favorite document or delete the document from the menu. The notes added to a document can also be deleted from this menu page and the note date history is also tracked. You can always return the main screen by clicking the ‘Home’ icon. 11

12 Searching within AnswersNow
Lets cover “searching” within the new AnswersNow and setting up search alerts. Browsing is the best way to get to know your library content, however you may want to do a key word search to find specific documents matching your topic of interest. Before starting to search, you may want to visit the ‘My Libraries’ link in the command bar. 12

13 Use ‘My Libraries’ to set an auto-filter for your search results
When ‘My Libraries’ opens, you can select/deselect your default set of databases to search against. Remember to click the ‘Apply’ button once you make changes. You can always override this selection in the search box so you do not have to re-visit this page if you would like to do occasionally search content. Let’s click the Home button to do a search. 13

14 Type in your search term
Simply type in your search expression at the top of the page – and notice that to the left the Search Options indicates you are searching your My Libraries selections. There is the drop-down menu for those instances where you would like to search “all content”. Click ‘enter’ on your keyboard or click the grey search icon to the right. 14

15 Search Results are easy to Navigate!
Search Results will be displayed in the right pane and are automatically sorted by relevance; using the box in the upper right, results can also be sorted by date. As needed results can be filtered more specifically by document type or by Library using the left pane. Clicking ‘State Employment Law’ will allow you to see the search results just for your selected state. Click the article title to open in the document view window. Search terms are emphasized within the text. Use the ‘Search Results’ up and down arrows to move through your search results. Remember you can use the icons in the upper right portion of the page to Print, Save or to your document. Click the ‘Search Results’ phrase to return to the results list. 17 Set up a stored search – receive alerts on your hot topics!
You can save your search by clicking the ‘Save this Search’ link in the upper right portion of the screen. This link has a dual function, it saves your search so you can easily re-run at any time, but, you can also setup a search alert for any future news on your topic! In the ‘Save this Search’ pop-up window, your search term will already be filled-in, you can decide whether to save in the default Save Search folder OR create your own folder for improved organization. If you create your own folder, simply create a name for the folder. To save the topic for news alert purposes, simply check the ‘Save as Alert’ box and select either ‘Daily’ or ‘Weekly’. The next business day if there is a news article on your topic, you will receive a special ‘Saved Search Alert’ or you might want to receive the each week in which case it is delivered on Saturday mornings. Click the appropriate ‘Save’ option – for now, let’s ‘Save and See All Saved Searches’. 17

18 Manage your ‘Stored Searches’ and ‘Alerts’
Here you can see all of your saved searches, along with the date they were setup. If you also chose to receive alerts, the frequency would be noted and could also be changed, one of the options is ‘Never’. In this case, the saved search would be saved but the alert e,ail would stop. Searches can also be deleted, when you delete a saved search, the alert for that topic would also be deleted. Remember this page can also be accessed from the main command bar.. Let’s click ‘Home’ to return to the Home page. 18

CCH AnswersNow Tools includes Employee Handbook tool! The Employee Handbook link is just one of over 70 documents that discuss the importance of handbooks. This ’sample” document will allow the user to build a customized handbook one policy at a time, just copy the appropriate sample policy clauses into an open Word document. Just copy and paste each policy into a Word document! 20

21 AnswersNow Tools includes FMLA-ADA Leave and
White Collar Exemption Advisor modules! These two tools, FMLA-ADA Leave and the White Collar Exemption ‘Advisor’ tools are known as decision-tree type modules created by the labor editors at Wolters Kluwer. No sign-in is required and the tools walk the user through the appropriate steps while providing documentation by the end of the process, giving the user an audit trail and an accurate answer for the specific employee named in the report. Pull just one-state or review/compare multiple states! 21

AnswersNow Tools includes State Employment Law COMPARE tool! The State and Federal Employment Law Compare is a terrific ‘look-up’ or comparison tool – helping you to quickly pull together the most important facts for a single state and topic or numerous states and topics. Simply select your topic, expand each item as needed; pick your state(s) then click the ‘Results’ icon in the top right part of the screen. You can print, and export your results.; the tool is updated daily! 22

23 Modules for Job Descriptions (JD) and Performance Reviews (PR)
AnswersNow Tools Modules for Job Descriptions (JD) and Performance Reviews (PR) These two tools are provided to CCH/Wolters Kluwer HR users by Insperity to create customized job descriptions and performance reviews. Job Descriptions and Performance Reviews are both third-party tools and some of the most used tools within the site! 23

24 Job Descriptions*! Over 3700 descriptions!
Located on the Tools tab, this robust area enables you to create your own job descriptions with easy-to-follow instructions. Plus, you get sample job advertisement language and interview questions for each job you create. Over 3700 descriptions! Your individual job descriptions are saved for future access on any computer with your user credentials and access to AnswersNow. *This tool is provided by a third-party company called Insperity and requires you to create an account so they can retain your work. Terrific time saver!!

25 Performance Review Tool*!
Performance Review only saves the active review you are working on; once you download or the review to yourself, it is removed from the online access but just remember you will have it on your hard drive. *This tool is provided by a third-party company called Insperity and requires you to create an account so they can retain your work. Another terrific time saver!!
