Amcanion: Disgrifio fy mhrofiad fel pennaeth un o’r ysgolion peilot; Cyflwyno’r “daith” drwy fy mhrofiad o’r weithdrefn arolygu. Objectives: To describe my experience as the head of one of the pilot schools; To present a “walk through” my experience of the inspection procedure.

Bedair wythnos cyn yr arolygiad: Rwy’n cael hysbysiad ysgrifenedig; Roedd galwad ffôn gan gydlynydd yr arolygiad (CA) yn dilyn hyn; Cytunwyd ar y trefniadau a gofynnodd i mi anfon gwybodaeth allweddol ymlaen (yn electronig) am fy ysgol, fy AHA a’m CGY; Gofynnodd hefyd a oedd unrhyw risgiau neu ystyriaethau iechyd a diogelwch yr oedd angen i’r tîm wybod amdanynt. Four weeks before the inspection: I received written notice ; This was followed by a telephone call from the inspection co-ordinator (IC); Arrangements were agreed and she asked me to forward (electronically) key information on the school, my SER and my SIP; She also asked if there were any risks or health and safety issues that the team needed to be aware of.

Gofynnodd yr CA hefyd am drefniadau ar gyfer: Derbyn dogfennau ac amserlenni yr oedd eu hangen cyn yr arolygiad; Cyfarfod rhwng arolygwyr ac aelod o’r BLl, y rhieni a chyda grwpiau o blant; Casglu samplau o waith disgyblion yr oedd eu hangen yn ystod yr arolygiad; Cwblhau a dychwelyd yr holiaduron i rieni a disgyblion. The IC also requested the arrangements for: The receipt of documentation and timetables required before the inspection; Inspectors to meet with a member of the GB, the parents and groups of children; The collection of samples of pupil work required during the inspection; The completion and return of parent and pupil questionnaires.

Sylwebaeth Cyn-Arolygiad Datblygwyd trywyddau ymholi o’r AHA, data Estyn, a briff gan yr ALl a dadansoddiad o’r holiaduron. Derbyniwyd yr SCA gan yr arolygydd cofnodol ddydd Gwener cyn wythnos yr arolygiad. Pre-inspection Commentary Lines of enquiry were developed from the SER, data held by Estyn , a briefing from the LA and analysis of the questionnaires. The PIC was received electronically from the reporting inspector on the Friday before inspection week.

Monday lunchtime The inspection team arrived for our first meeting during which we discussed: The SER and PIC ; The gathering of further evidence; The inspection process.

Nos Lun: Cyfarfu’r arolygydd cofnodol a’r arolygydd tîm â rhieni; Cyfarfu’r arolygydd cofnodol a’r arolygydd tîm ag aelod o’r BLl. Monday evening: The reporting and team inspector met with parents; The reporting and team inspector met with a member of the GB.

Dydd Mawrth – Dydd Iau Ar ôl taith o gwmpas yr ysgol dechreuodd y gweithgareddau arolygu: Arsylwi ar wersi; Cyfweliadau â grwpiau o ddisgyblion a staff; Craffu ar ddogfennau a gwaith disgyblion. Tuesday – Thursday After a tour of the school the inspection activities began: Lesson observations; Interviews with groups of pupils and staff; Scrutiny of documentation and pupils’ work.

Cyfarfodydd Tîm Cynhaliwyd y rhain ar ôl ysgol ar y dydd Mawrth a’r dydd Mercher. Fel yr enwebai, cyfrannais at drafodaethau’r tîm a darparu mwy o dystiolaeth yn ôl yr angen. Team Meetings These were held after school on Tuesday and Wednesday . As nominee I contributed to team discussions and provided further evidence, as required.

Dydd Iau – diwrnod olaf Cynhaliwyd y cyfarfod tîm olaf yn ystod y prynhawn. Cyflwynodd y tîm arolygu eu barnau i staff uwch, cadeirydd y llywodraethwyr a chynrychiolydd o’r ALl. Thursday – last day During the afternoon the final team meeting was held. The inspection team reported their judgements to senior staff , chair of governors and the LA representative.

Following the inspection: The draft report was ed to me to check if there were any factual errors; Copies of the report were sent to the school and the report posted on the Estyn web site within two months of the inspection. Yn dilyn yr arolygiad: Anfonwyd yr adroddiad drafft ataf drwy’r e-bost i’w archwilio am unrhyw wallau ffeithiol; Anfonwyd copïau o’r adroddiad i’r ysgol a gosodwyd yr adroddiad ar wefan Estyn o fewn dau fis wedi’r arolygiad.

Sicrhewch fod eich CGY: Yn benodol ac yn gryno; Yn gosod targedau ar gyfer gwella sy’n nodi meini prawf llwyddiant ar sail yr hyn y bydd disgyblion yn ei gyflawni; Yn ystyried mentrau lleol a chenedlaethol; Yn cysylltu’n glir â blaenoriaethau gwariant a gwella perfformiad; Yn cysylltu’n glir â’r broses hunanarfarnu. Make sure that your SIP : Is focussed and concise; Sets targets for improvement that identify success criteria in terms of what pupils will achieve; Takes account of local and national initiatives; Is clearly linked to spending priorities and improvement in performance; Is clearly linked to the self evaluation process.

Make sure that your SER : Is clear and concise; Is evaluative rather than descriptive; Focuses on the impact and outcomes for children; Clearly identifies the school’s strengths and areas for improvement; Has judgements that are honest and evidence based.
