3. Introduction
Gulper Eels grow to over one metre long and their head makes up a quarter of their bodies
They eat fish, shrimps and other prey up to a size as big as their own bodies!

5. A Gulper Eels Other Names
The Gulper Eel’s Latin name is Saccopharyngiformes, which is made up of three different words
Saccus (Latin) for sack
Pharyngx (Greek) for pharynx or throat
Morphe (Greek) for shape
It is also known as the Pelican Eel !

6. Bioilluminescence
On the end of their tails they have a small body part that can light up
Nobody has worked out what this is for, but I think this is for attracting prey that are interested in the light
