Focus on revision Encourage children to know where they feel they would like to improve Small groups Some children will work in small groups for some sessions so we can target any gaps they have.

Academic side Encourage your child to revise every evening for 30 minutes Support your child where possible Mental maths, times table quick fire, marking their practice papers, reading questions for them.

Environment Where possible, give your child somewhere quiet to work Have some chill out time! A good breakfast, a high energy snack and a bottle of water will set your child up well for a good days revision! Sleep can make a big difference Bed at 8 o’clock Catch up on BBC iPlayer Phones out of bedrooms

6 Revision There are 2 different types practice papers for English (Reading, Grammar and Spelling) There are 3 different practice papers for maths (Arithmetic - Paper 1, Reasoning -Paper 2, Reasoning – Paper 3) They are designed to be used as learning material, not test material The children will have one set of papers in the run up to Easter and over Easter. Further revision papers will be given out as homework over the first few weeks back– all other homework will stop!

Tuesday – English: Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling Wednesday – Maths: Arithmetic and Paper 2 Reasoning Thursday – Maths: Paper 3 Reasoning

8 SATs week Timetable In between tests
W/C 8th May: reading, maths and grammar June: Writing In between tests A creative, relaxing and purposeful afternoon Warm ups before the tests

9 Expectations Maths test Reading test Grammar test
Arithmetic - Paper 1, Reasoning - Paper 2, Reasoning- Paper 3. Reading test Lasts for 1 hour – read a text then answer questions, read the next text, then answer questions, etc. Texts are levelled and run easier to more complex Grammar test Grammar paper and spelling test

10 SATs week Ensure your child comes to school ready to take the tests.
On time, a good nights sleep, a healthy breakfast, a high energy snack for break time and a bottle of water. In case of illness or a broken bone, please contact the school as soon as possible.
