Facilities Bikes Social Cycling groups We approached several community groups and realised that we shared similar objectives in terms of health and wellbeing. We worked with them to establish what kind of project we could do that would appeal to their users. We first created a cycling hub (i.e. training facilities and a pool of bikes) at the Westway Sports Centre in partnership with the Westway Trust. In the autumn 2014 we delivered our first pilot of 6-week blocks with Open Age and the African Refugee Project. We run focus groups to evaluate the pilot and incorporated changes to for the following year.

10 Feedback: Challenges “I was terrified of riding a bike. My best friend was killed on a bike in Piccadilly Circus. The first day of the course I fell and ended up in A&E. The last day of the course I was riding” “When I started the course, I was terrified of falling and hurting myself” “Keeping balance while signalling” “Remembering good practice: pedalling and keeping all at the same time”

“I joined this cycling lesson not knowing how to cycle. After 6 weeks I managed to ride a bike and learning a lot things” “Feeling much more confident on the road” “Having fun” “The love for the bike brought us together”. “The instructors are very friendly and helpful.
