With functions there are 3 views: Draw the Construct a Put into graph table of values y = mx +b form VISUALLY NUMERICALLY ANALYTICALLY

Construct a table of values and draw the graph. Find the y – value when x = -3,-1,0,1,3

5 Finding X and Y Intercepts
How many and where are the x and y intercepts in each graph?

6 It’s easy if we have a graph, what’s happens if we don’t?
Finding the x-intercept – let y = 0 and solve for x (usually involves factoring) Finding the y – intercept – let x = 0 and solve for y

7 Example 1 Find the x and y intercepts for y = x³ - 4x

8 Find the x and y intercepts:
2) y = √9 – x² 3) y = 2x² + x 4) y = 2x - √x² + 1
