1 Archimedes By Sophie Dee 5X B.C 287 – B.C 212

2 Archimedes was a Greek mathematician, philosopher and inventor who wrote important work on geometry, arithmetic and mechanics. Archimedes was born on the eastern coast of Sicily then he was educated in Alexandria in Egypt. Archimedes spent most of his life devoting his time to lots of research and experimentations in many things.

3 Archimedes was most famous for discovering the law of hydrostatics, as sometimes known as 'Archimedes' principle‘. Stating at a body immersed in fluid loses a lot of weight equal to the amount of fluid it displaces. Archimedes was supposed to have made this discovery when stepping into his own bath, causing him to say ` Eureka!’

4 Archimedes was commonly known for
Archimedes died during the Siege of Syracuse when he was killed by a Roman soldier despite orders that he should not be harmed. Archimedes was commonly known for Archimedes’ principle, Archimedes’ screw, hydrostatics, levers and in finitesimals. A biography of Archimedes was written in his days, by his friend Heracleides but this work has been lost, leaving the details of his life obscure.
