4 What is IB? A non-profit educational foundation.
International educational framework. Framework to foster students intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills so the can better live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. New approaches to teaching, not new standards.

5 What is IB’s Mission? IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Not a free program US has approximately 1.4 million schools IB is 0.12% of that 1.4 million Cooper City was the 1st charter school in FL to have MYP 4 IB Programs

7 The MYP: is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. Students learn best when their learning experiences have context and are connected to their lives and their experience of the world that they have experienced. Using global contexts, MYP students develop an understanding of their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet.

MYP was created in 1994 MYP grew out of the work and vision of practicing teachers in school across the globe.

9 MYP Global Context In a world of increasing interconnection and complexity, learning in context provides students with opportunities to explore multiple dimensions of meaningful challenges facing young people in the world today, encouraging them to develop creative solution and understanding. The MYP encourage teachers to design units around a range of ideas and issues that are personally, locally, nationally, international, and globally significant.

11 Learner Profiles The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people, who recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. The IB Learner Profiles represents 10 attributes valued by the IB World Schools. They believe these attributes and others like them, can help individuals and groups become more responsible members of local, national and global communities.

Visible in all classrooms (scholar) Visible in all common areas Learner Profiles will be imbedded into units and will help students address these attributes daily. Referred to during class instruction, passing, lunch, etc. Learner Profiles need to become part of our daily language.

14 MYP at Sunrise MYP Explorers will work together to be innovative.
MYP Explorers will create curriculum across subject matters to teach the whole child, holistic approach. MYP Explores will build upon the things they are already doing. New Terminology

Creation of new unit lesson plans will begin in 2nd quarter Implementation will begin in 3rd quarter, except for Math New Unit Plans 4th quarter Interdisciplinary Unit Plans
