6 What Leominster asked us
Q: Would you like everyone to come to these events? A: Yes, these events are for the public to participate in this work on community health services. We want to use people’s experiences of care to inform plans for improvements. Q: Why is Leominster Hospital run by a GP practice? A: Wye Valley NHS Trust run Leominster Community Hospital with medical cover provided by Mortimer Medical Practice, based in Kingsland. Q: Who are Wye Valley NHS Trust? A: Wye Valley NHS Trust is a NHS provider of acute (hospital) and community services in Herefordshire. Q: Why is there a difference in way things are done between different GP surgeries? A: GP surgeries are independent clinical services that are organized to meet the need of their patients. As of 1 April 2017, the CCG became responsible for commissioning primary care. The CCG are working with all practices to achieve similar ways of working. As patients, you can influence your surgery through the Patient Participation Group. Across practices, GPs and Practice managers come together to share good practice and learn from each other.
