2 1. Who was the president of the United States when the country’s bicentennial was celebrated on July 4th, 1976? President Gerald Ford was the leader of the United States.

On inauguration day Carter’s family walked down Pennsylvania Ave. instead of riding in a car. He tried to make it more personal by not having many politicians from Washington D.C. on his cabinet. He also reduced his personal staff.
