27 Daily Substitute Permit: Used for temporary assignments of no more than 90 days; requires at least 90 credit hours Extended Daily Substitute Permit: Circumstance specific; must be approved by State Superintendent; requires formal observation and assignment of mentor teacher Full Year Basic Substitute Permit: Used for extended assignments; requires at least 90 credit hours (must be in major or achieve passing score on certification test if assigned to core content area); requires mentor teacher; may be renewed up to three times if evaluation and additional credit hours requirements are met Fully Year Shortage Permit: Used for already-certified teachers to teach content for which they are not certified/endorsed up to half time; must be in major or achieve passing score on certification test if assigned to core content area; may be renewed up to three times if evaluation requirements are met Expert Substitute Permit: Used for individuals with demonstrated distinction or exceptional talent in a content area; must hold a bachelors degree; must be in major or achieve passing score on certification test if assigned to core content area Others: 1233b, 1233c, 1531f Teacher Permit Types
