6 Our Presence Ground Mounted Projects Rooftop Projects Excelsior covers all market segments of the solar industry. We have serviced across the following states in India - Maharashtra Gujarat Rajasthan Punjab Chhattisgarh Delhi Orissa Telangana Andhra Pradesh Karnataka

7 Credentials 50 MW solar project in Rajasthan rooftop projects under
In 2 Years Excelsior Company bags its first biggest engineering project of 50 MW solar project in Rajasthan exceeds 500 MW of services Acquires Seven 1.1 MW Karnataka State Policy 2016 rooftop projects under Achieves 50 projects milestone in May 2016 Awarded as the Best Startup Company under the Best Green Category by The Indian Startup Entrepreneurship & Disruptive Innovation Awards 2016

8 Basic Need For Quality It is well established that the project cost, quality, safety and duration are the four critical elements that contribute to project success Clients & users expect quality - What if structures crash as often as Microsoft Windows? Defects or failures in constructed facilities can result in very large costs Even with minor defects, re-construction may be required and facility operations impaired Increased costs and delays are the result In the worst case, failures may cause personal injuries or fatalities

9 Effects of Poor Quality
Cost Over Run – Approximate 20% of project cost Time Delay Safety Hazard – Human & Equipment Performance of Plant Reduced Life Problem with vendors Breeding ground for fraud Potential client loss Creates reputational risks

10 Areas of Poor Quality – Related to Solar Plant
Quality in Civil Works Poor foundation Poor cement quality Reference level not maintained Access not planned Use of sediment/salty water No curing Quality in Electrical Works Failure to check IR value Cables laying in trenches filled with garbage, pointed & sharp objects Depth of installation not maintained Communication & Power cables not segregated properly Earthing not done properly Trenches are narrower than the ones mentioned in design drawings Equipment’s not installed as per the manufacturer recommendations Cable & electrical items storage Poor terminations Use of improper lug sizes Mixing of AC / DC / Earth Quality in Structures Foundation not done properly Absence of Vertical & horizontal alignment Tightening of the fastener not with specified torque Protection from rusting after rework is not done Overlaying purlins are installed

24 How Can We Improve? Decide on Tools & Techniques:
Cost – Benefit Analysis : Calculate the benefits of doing things right at the first place Benchmarking: Compare results with those of other projects Quality Checklists: “Do this!” “Have you done this?” Process Improvement plan : Identify waste and non value steps QAP / SOPs Quality Audits Take Responsibility Stop giving one excuse – ‘ This is because we had to commission in such a short period of time’ Meet to discuss problems/issues at site Quarterly / half yearly safety meetings Regular fliers / reminder regarding Quality & Safety Team Work Fixing of the responsibilities by name for poor workmanship Penalties for rework
