Is education is for… Getting the poor into work Socialization, e.g. preparing men and women for their respective roles Selecting bright children for bright futures Ensuring everyone has the opportunity to grow and flourish Ensuring everyone can contribute to their society

Discovering knowledge is not a task for pupils The voice of authority must be obeyed Competition is more important than co-operation Reading and writing are more important than talking and thinking Men are more important than women Transmitted through routines & rules and the behaviour of adults

Pop up debate – curriculum (2 big groups) 10 minutes preparation Team 1 The school curriculum must be built around the world of work Team 2 The school curriculum must be built around humanity and equality Prepare your arguments – 10minutes Choose at least two speakers Carry out a debate – 5 minutes each Vote on the results
