Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) Establishes role for unions as well as academic senates Since1978 California Faculty Association certified as representing the faculty in 1982 Represents temporary and tenure-track instructional faculty plus coaches, librarians and psychological counselors

Salary scale mirrors tenure-track scale Full health benefits at 40% of full time Expectation of similar appointment if rehired years 1-6 Three-year appointments after six years Provisions to offer new work to continuing lecturers ahead of new hires
