5 Top 10 Reasons to Purchase Travel Insurance
You could lose money you’ve invested if : 1. You have to cancel your trip due to an unexpected event such as bad weather, an illness in the family, involuntary job loss or the financial default of your airline, cruise line or tour operator.  2. Your luggage is lost or delayed, forcing you to purchase necessary essentials, or prescription medications. 3. You have to return home early due to an unexpected emergency such as an illness or death in the family.

6 Top 10 Reasons to Purchase Travel Insurance
You could lose money you’ve invested if : 4. Your sporting, camping equipment, or electronics are damaged or stolen. 5. You become ill or injured. Most health care plans, Medicare, and Medicare supplements may offer little or no medical expense coverage outside the U.S. 6. You or a family member need emergency medical evacuation due to an accident or sudden illness.

7 Top 10 Reasons to Purchase Travel Insurance
You could lose money you’ve invested if : 7. You run into flight delays and miss a portion of your trip or cruise. 8. You have to evacuate your resort due to an unexpected hurricane or other weather conditions. 9. You lose your passport or other important travel documents, leaving you stranded abroad. 10. Your rental car is damaged leaving you responsible for the damages.

8 Before Purchasing Travel Protection
Before you purchase trip insurance, you should make sure what you are buying will meet any travel/medical needs that may arise on your trip. I suggest you ask the following questions: First and foremost, check with your healthcare insurance provider and get the facts in writing about what they will and will not pay if you become ill or injured while in a foreign country. If they do pay, find out if they pay directly to the suppliers, or do they require you to pay upfront and then they will reimburse. Does the policy cover emergency expenses while abroad - and, if so, what kind? If your overseas emergency requires returning to the USA for treatment, will the insurance cover the cost of evacuation?

9 Before Purchasing Travel Protection
Will the insurance cover you if you are engaged in "high risk" activities such as zip-lines, parasailing, hiking and climbing, off-road driving, and accidents in general? Be sure and ask about coverage for pre-existing conditions. Are payments guaranteed and does the insurance pay directly to doctors, hospitals and other service providers - or do they simply reimburse you for out-of-pocket expenses? Do they have a 24/7 support center that can help you with arrangements? So, before you say no and sign the insurance waiver, make sure you have counted the cost and evaluated the position you will find yourself in should you become seriously ill or injured. I highly recommend that you insure your trip and, when you do, make sure it includes health care and evacuation coverage as well as cancellation or trip-interruption coverage. It will give you one more reason to fully enjoy your vacation.
