1 Hand Drawn Animation Is Not Dead
By: Joshua Estep

2 Why I Chose Animation Always been good at drawing and had an interest in animation So I chose to make one "How to Draw." WikiHow, 28 Mar Web. 30 Mar <

3 Research Paper I wrote my research paper on- Hand-drawn and Stop Motion Animation Are Down But Not Out Connection to Project- I made a hand-drawn animation Basic Thesis- Hand-drawn and Stop Motion animation may be used less but they are still thriving forms of animation What I learned- I learned that these forms of animation still thrive thanks to many companies even though 3D animation seems to be becoming the more typically used version Conclusion- Because they are still produced then they are not dead art forms "Bachelors and Masters degree courses in Animation and Multimedia.“ College of Visual Effects, Design & Art., 28 Mar Web. 13 Nov <

4 Mentor Mentor- Mrs. Gilliam OR Jan Gilliam
How I know her- Mrs. Shepherd referred Why I chose her- She is a retired art teacher who has great skill How she helped- Went above and beyond, provided me with the space, resources, and advice Mentor Reflection: Proud of what I could accomplish and would like to further develop my artistic abilities

5 My Project I chose to make a short hand drawn animation
Description- video about a baby's first ultrasound In honor of my cousin who recently was pregnant Because- To show that hand drawn animations not a dead art form Project Hours: 43 Hours 19 Minutes

6 Problems/Solutions Problems- Align pictures, proportionate
Digitally scanning them Time Strained with moving How I Solved Them- See through paper Take pictures with my phone Organizing my time

7 Help and Advice Help/Advice- William V. Nichols How they helped-
Design Space to work Offer ideas Helped grow my abilities

8 Video

9 Time Invested Total Hours: 43 Hours 19 Minutes
 - Which is 28 Hours and 19 Minutes extra Reason: because hand drawn animation requires that you draw every scene and every movement frame by frame  - Also drawings must all line up or your have to start over

10 Future Applications Learned- Animation takes longer than I thought
More drawing than originally anticipated New respect for all animators Worth it Applications to Future- Despite the time, I would not mind keeping this as at least a hobbie as well as painting

11 Disadvantage Change What I would change-
Disadvantage- Schedule time better around moving Disadvantage- use better camera to get pictures Maybe add some frames to the animation if the time allowed Disadvantage

12 ADVICE Advice Advice to others- Start your project early
Plan plenty of time Don’t procrastinate Set due dates for yourself

13 Key Points Conclusion Review Main Points- Overall Fun project
Keep this and painting as a hobby Hand-drawn & Stop motion animation are still viable I made this animation as a testament to that and to my cousin My Thanks
