3 Foil Characters A minor character whose situation, actions, or traits contrast those of a main character, and thus by contrast, sets off or emphasizes the major character. Most often (but not always) the foil makes the main character look better by comparison. Sometimes, foil characters may share some similar traits, but overall, they are usually opposites. Much like these two here:

9 Foil Activity Find your foil character from a movie or TV show. In 3-4 sentences, explain how those character’s are foils for each other. Be sure to mention how their traits are opposite and use specific examples. Identify if your character is static or dynamic.
