TIGER Weight: 65 kg ( pound) – 167 kg ( pound) (Female) · kg (1.54 pound) – 1.40 kg (3.09 pound) (Newborn)· 90 kg ( pound) – 306 kg ( pound) (Male) Scientific name: Panthera tigris Lifespan: 20 years – 26 years (In captivity) Speed: 49 km/h (30.45 mph) – 65 km/h (40.39 mph) (In short bursts) Height: 2' 4" – 4' 0" Gestation period: 104 days – 106 days on average

The tiger (Panthera Tigris) is the largest cat species, most recognisable for their pattern of dark vertical stripes on reddish- orange fur with a lighter underside. The largest tigers have reached a total body length of up to 3.38 m (11.1 ft) over curves and have weighed up to 388.7 kg (857 lb) in the wild. The species is classified in the genus Panthera with the lion, leopard, jaguar and snow leopard. Tigers are apex predators, primarily preying on ungulates such as deer and bovids. They are territorial and generally solitary but social animals, often requiring large contiguous areas of habitat that support their prey requirements. This, coupled with the fact that they are indigenous to some of the more densely populated places on Earth, has caused significant conflicts with humans.

MEASURES The tiger is an iconic species, and tiger conservation is involved in attempts to prevent the animal from becoming extinct and preserving its natural habitat. In Gujrat only 5 tigers were left and now there are up to 500.This is one of the main objectives of international animal conservation charities. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has played a crucial role in improving international efforts for tiger conservation.

RED PANDA Scientific name: Ailurus fulgens
Biological classification: Species Belongs to: Ailurus

The red panda, also called lesser panda, red bear- cat, and red cat-bear, is a mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. It has reddish-brown fur, a long, shaggy tail, and a waddling gait due to its shorter front legs, and is slightly larger than a domestic cat. It is arboreal, feeds mainly on bamboo, but also eats eggs, birds, and insects. It is a solitary animal, mainly active from dusk to dawn, and is largely sedentary during the day

MEASURES The red panda is listed in CITES Appendix I.The species has been classified as endangered in the IUCN Red List since 2008 because the global population is estimated at about 10,000 individuals, with a decreasing population trend; only about half of the total area of potential habitat of 142,000 km2 (55,000 sq mi) is actually being used by the species. Due to their shy and secretive nature, and their largely nocturnal habits, observation of red pandas is difficult. Therefore, population figures in the wild are determined by population density estimates and not direct counts.
