1 Macronutrients

2 Macronutrients Macro = large
Nutrients= the energy or calories you get from food we eat 3 Main Macronutrients Protein Carbohydrate- Complex and Simple Fat

3 Protein Protein builds, maintains, and replaces the tissues in your body. Your muscles, your organs, and your immune system are made up mostly of protein.

4 Carbohydrates 2 Types of Carbohydrates: Simple Complex
The major source of energy for the body. Most foods contain carbohydrates, which the body breaks down into simple sugars. 2 Types of Carbohydrates: Simple Simple sugars are found in refined sugars, like the white sugar you'd find in a sugar bowl. But can also be found in fruits, vegetables, and milk. Simple sugar energy doesn’t last as long and may have sudden crashes. Complex These are also called starches. Starches include grain products, such as bread, crackers, pasta, and rice. Starch energy is a long-lasting energy that fills you up.

5 Fats Fats are nutrients in food that the body uses to build nerve tissue and hormones. Provides energy, absorbs certain nutrients and maintains your core body temperature. The body also uses fat as fuel. If fats eaten aren't burned as energy or used as building blocks, they're stored by the body in fat cells.
