1 February 22, 2017 Entry task: Describe what beauty is to you? Why might people who are more attractive earn more money in their lifetime? Target: Evaluate the reason people wear clothes.

2 Students will write down their first impression by the way the person in dressed in each slide.

3 Burberry model – using the money to pay for an ivy league education...

4 An attorney general – sometimes what you see is what you get!

5 Just took this off the internet – don’t have any history on this person but... Research shows members of the goth culture have a much higher rate of suicide. I’ve had some “Goths” in my class that are good students as well as kind and polite. I’ve also had some that weren’t.

6 Again just taken off the internet but there was a huge “hazing” incident a few years back at a prep school where the Sr. girls ended up with criminal records. The girl in this picture could be a great student or athlete or a “mean girl”

7 Bikers are usually thought of as big, mean and scary
Bikers are usually thought of as big, mean and scary... Look at the tattoos on the guy in the background! Now look at the patch on the shoulder of the guy in front BACA – Bikers Against Child Abuse. This is a group that does great things!

8 an American serial killer, rapist, kidnapper, and necrophile who assaulted and murdered numerous young women and girls during the 1970s and possibly earlier. After more than a decade of denials, he confessed shortly before his execution to 30 homicides committed in seven states between 1974 and 1978; the true total remains unknown, and could be much higher.

9 NERD! Take the funny out of this and you know kids that are ostracized because they come across as socially inept. In the movie he turned out to be kinda cool!

11 Again random photo but this looks like the all American upper class family living in the Hampton’s – strong family values. This could be a photo of the Christy Brinkley family – break up of the family. Any family who goes through divorce.

Typical college boys??? Not hardly! Impatient for the good life these two (the Menendez brothers) brutally murdered their parents hoping to cash in early on their inheritance.

There are 5 reasons why we wear clothing. Adornment Protection Identification Modesty Status

16 Adornment Adornment: Added decoration or ornamentation.

17 Protection Protection: Clothing that provides physical safeguards to the body, preventing harm from climate and environment.

18 Identification Identification: Establishing who someone is or what they do.

19 Modesty Modesty: Covering the body according to the code of decency established by society.

20 Status Status: One’s position or rank in comparison to others.
