1 National Anti-Trafficking Coordination Mechanism in Latvia

2 Mandate and the duties an inter-institutional working group is established by a decree of a Prime Minister (since 2010) to coordinate the activities of governmental agencies, municipal institutions and non-governmental organizations within the implementation of the anti- trafficking policy planning document to ensure efficient exchange of information and coordinated actions related to the issues of the prevention and combating the human trafficking and the issues of providing the support of social services for the victims of human trafficking

3 Mandate and the duties work based on public-private partnership and trust Deputy State Secretary, Director of Sectoral Policy Department is a chair of inter-institutional working group meetings 4 times a year agenda is proposed and detailed minutes of the meetings are prepared by the Ministry of the Interior

5 National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator
On June 13, 2014 the State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior has tasked Ms Lāsma Stabiņa, Senior Desk Officer, Policy Elaboration Division, Sectoral Policy Department of the Ministry of the Interior to exercise tasks of National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator. The Job description of Ms Stabiņa was renewed on July 20, 2016 which provides that the purpose of her position is to provide tasks on National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator

6 National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator
Main responsibilities: collect and analyse information, as well as prepare information and analytical materials on anti-trafficking issues which are included in policy planning documents of the Ministry of the Interior and other line ministries, on implementation of tasks given by the Cabinet of Ministers, a Prime Minister, on legal acts and regulations and progress of overall situation in fight against trafficking in human beings provide elaboration of proposals to improve national anti-trafficking policy provide representation of the Ministry of the Interior and interests of the country at inter-institutional meetings, workshops, conferences at national and international level monitor and analyse changes in legal acts organize and provide activities, work and development of national anti-trafficking coordination mechanism as well as coordinate and control implementation of taken decisions.

7 National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator
National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator is not formally designated to act as a National Rapporteur. National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator provides monitoring the anti-trafficking activities of State institutions and the implementation of national legislation requirements, but reports developed by the National Anti-Trafficking Coordinator might be considered subjective.
