2. Welcome to the IMI Level One Award in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) is the leading awarding body for the retail motor industry. They offer an unrivalled range of motor industry qualifications that demonstrate skills and competence which form the foundation of a successful career.
These qualifications are nationally recognized, vocationally related (VRQs) which provide the essential knowledge to do a job.
The Level One award is available as a learning programme for our first year full time or part time students, spread over one year and for our schools provision spread over two years.

3. What are the course objectives i. e
What are the course objectives i.e. by the end of the course you will be able to :
Summarise and explain the skills and knowledge associated with the repair, servicing and maintenance of automotive vehicles.
State the fundamental principles of automotive vehicle design, construction and the associated safety features.
Describe the basic function of the vehicles systems, such as the engine, transmission ,braking, steering, suspension, wheels, tyres and the electrical systems.
Explain and perform the required vehicle maintenance tasks
Develop a range of communication skills required for the subject

4. How will I be assessed Congratulations on passing your Level One Exam
In order to pass the IMI Level One Diploma Award, all students must successfully complete the following.
A series of practical IMI assessments (workshop tasks) and written questions.
On – line IMI multiple choice examinations.
