History of the League The LIFL was set up in time for the 1995/96 season. Its main aim was to create stepping stone for youngsters who had played youth football at Under 16 to progress and play Under 18 football before the big leap into men’s open age football. A pathway to the senior game. The league has grown in size and popularity over the years and at its peak, the league has offered of up to 4 Divisions - Premier (by election and preference) with three Regional divisions by club preference – Central Lincs plus - North and South At the start of the 2014/15 the league created an Under 21 Lincolnshire Midweek League. (Now run by LFA in )

Present Day (season ) The U18 league currently consists of TWO Divisions – North and South due the fall in our number of clubs progressing to U18. The recent introduction of the Mid Lincs U17 league has delayed progress of some teams to our U18 league this season, (our peak was 48 teams in four divisions). Currently we have 20 teams at Under 18.
12
INTERMEDIATE Under 18’s A brief synopsis on the League : In order to provide a football competition for players under eighteen but over the normal lower age of sixteen which used to end Youth Status for players, the founding members of LIFL formed this successful league and its cup competitions in season. The late Steve Asher (former Secretary), along with Phil Teal (Chairman), Maureen and Steve Dennis (now life members) and our Life President George Addlesee, were the mainstay members who we can thank for our present league status.
13
INTERMEDIATE Under 18 We are affiliated to Lincolnshire FA
but still attract clubs from close by Notts FA and we are strong in North Lincs. We have expanded and have grown to enable normally four divisions with a Premier, North, South and Central divide and four Cups and Shield Trophies. Finals played around the County at top professional club grounds. We now have around 25 clubs but are always open to new and former member clubs to swell our ranks as one of the best competitions for Youths before they progress to senior open age soccer. We started the Midweek LIFL Under 21 league in Sept Tonight and in future we are mainly focused on growth of U18 back to its former strength but will also help promote the U21 format with our LFA and other senior clubs.
