4 Customer Service Commitment
We are committed to providing quality transportation service in support of City Schools. This commitment drives our planning, decision-making, and use of resources. We strive to be proactive in our pursuit of quality service and customer satisfaction. High quality service entails the safe, timely, incident-free and courteous transportation of students.

Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Homeless Section 504 (Rehabilitation Act) Alternative Education Setting (AES) English as a Second Language (ESOL) Walk Zone Requirements Non-Public

6 City Schools’ Transportation
Curb-to-Curb Eligibility Approximately 4600 students eligible for curb-to-curb yellow bus service, with majority having IEPs. Corner-to-Corner Eligibility Approximately 2400 students eligible for corner-to-corner yellow bus service. Swing Space Eligibility City School students transported due to 21st Century building renovations. More than 300 yellow buses used daily City Schools owned and operated. (10%) Yellow Bus Contractors (90%) Taxi Cabs Unless specified in a student’s IEP, the decision to assign a student to a cab service is made solely by the Office of Pupil Transportation

8 MTA Transportation Hours of Service: 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Student S-Pass Program Tickets valid until 8:00 p.m. Runs through end of current school year Criteria: Middle/high school students who live 1.5 miles or more from their respective schools. Students not meeting distance criteria but whose walk path to/from school are unsafe.

9 Our Partners Transportation Coordinators Office of Pupil Transportation Quality Service Transportation coordinators are our liaisons and extensions into the school systems It is important that Transportation Coordinators and the Office of Pupil Transportation work as partners to ensure quality service Student boarding Student unloading eTR entry Translog entry

10 Responsibilities of The Office of Pupil Transportation
Administrative Duties Receive, document, investigate and resolve complaints Coordinate transportation changes Communicate with transportation coordinators to facilitate approval of requests Communicate with schools and Student Support Services the end and start of new school year routines for transferring students and end their transportation Customer Relations Duties Assist customers with questions or concerns about transportation-related issues Identify customers’ needs; determine and initiate appropriate action Technical Duties Resolve eTR and student routing issues

11 Electronic Transportation Request (eTR)
City Schools’ application used in accepting and processing student requests for transportation Students cannot be assigned transportation until they are entered into eTR Access to eTR is given to: Principals or their designees Authorized transportation personnel Avoid discrepancies between SMS and eTR data When complaints are received concerning missed service, verify that the address where parent is expecting pickup is the same as address in eTR

12 Translog What is Translog?
City Schools developed application that enables electronic documentation of arrival time of buses Importance of Translog Tracks and provides evidence of services provided to special needs students in accordance with IDEA to the MDLC Enables City Schools to monitor the quality and timely delivery of transportation service in order to identify problem areas and provide timely resolution Transportation Coordinator Responsibility Recording arrival and unload times of buses and cabs in order to document timely delivery of transportation services
