1. Midterm Review/Study Guide
Define logos, ethos, and pathos
Be clear on the plot, major characters, and symbols from each text we have read so far (The Scarlet Letter, The Crucible, and The Great Gatsby)
Be able to identify the theme of texts
Know the difference between a protagonist and an antagonist
Know the major components of “The Declaration of Independence” and “The Declaration of Sentiments”
Recall our discussion of McCarthyism and the differences between types of writing (drama vs. prose)

2. Begin writing your Informative Essay If you need a refresher on the assignment specifics, reference the Jan 3-4 slides on my class website. Please remember that this needs to be 2-3 pages (double-spaced), and should all be objective writing (no opinions, you should only be informing your audience of the elements present in the movie and their successes or short comings). This is now due on Thursday, January 19, by 11:59pm, your exam day.
