1 Percent Applications Project
The Price of Dinner Out for the Amos Family By: Vaughn A.

2 Percent Application Used in the Real World
The Price of Dinner Out The cost of dinner out should include gratuity, also called tip, which is a calculated by taking a percentage (usually between 15% for good service, to 20% for excellent service) and multiplying that percentage by the total cost of all food and drink before tax is added (some people calculate tip after tax has been added, but it is not necessary) Dinner out must include tax, which is a percentage paid based on what the county’s rate is where the restaurant is located. Tax is calculated by taking 8.25% (Tarrant County) and multiplying that percentage by the total cost of all food and drink.

5 Observations Made by Me from Doing this Project
Eating out is expensive!!! Servers likely earn more money from gratuity than they do from their hourly wage Tarrant County’s tax rate is high, but is probably why it is such a desirable place to live as that money is put back into the community 4) Sometimes when there are a large number of people eating at a restaurant together, the gratuity will be added in by the server, so always check so you don’t end up paying gratuity twice A 20% gratuity is an easy calculation as you just have to take the subtotal price (price of all food and drinks before tax), move the decimal place over to the left once, and double it 6) Next time someone offers to pay to take me out to eat, I’m taking them up on the offer!
