2 What is SQR? SQR stand for School Quality Review.
CMSD has partnered with SchoolWorks to conduce qualitative analysis of school performance. This is the fourth year of SQRs in CMSD.

3 What is SQR? SQR site visits look at classroom observations, focus group interviews with administration, staff, students and parents, and documents.

4 What is SQR? The SQR team rates the school against a school performance rubric developed by SchoolWorks and aligned to TDES and OPES.

What is SQR? SchoolWorks Quality Criteria Dimension 1: Instruction Do classroom interactions and organization ensure a classroom climate conducive to learning? Is classroom instruction intentional, engaging, and challenging for all students? Do teachers regularly assess students’ progress toward mastery of key skills and concepts, and utilize assessment data to make adjustments to instruction and to provide feedback to students during the lesson? Dimension 2: Students’ Opportunities to Learn Does the school identify and support special education students, English language learners, and students who are struggling or at risk? Does the school have a safe, supportive learning environment that reflects high expectations? Dimension 3: Educators’ Opportunities to Learn Does the school design professional development and collaborative supports to sustain a focus on instructional improvement? Does the school’s culture indicate high levels of collective responsibility, trust, and efficacy? Dimension 4: Leadership Do school leaders guide and participate with instructional staff in the central processes of improving teaching and learning? Do school leaders executive effectively orchestrate the school’s operations?

7 What is SQR? The SQR data is part of the overall school performance framework used for decision making at CMSD.

8 What is SQR? The SQR is an internal accountability process that should inform decision-making, provide formative feedback, and support planning at the district and school level. 

9 Who does the SQR visits? The initial SQR team is a mix of SchoolWorks consultants and CMSD staff. All site team members are trained on the SchoolWorks protocol and norm together at each site visit.

10 Who does the SQR visits? The follow-up SQR team is internal CMSD staff. All site team members are trained on the SchoolWorks protocol and norm together at each site visit.

11 When are the SQR site visits?
We will conduct 16 initial SQR visits across CMSD for Bard West JM Civic and Business Campus International JM Engineering Campus International HS JM IT Charles Mooney Marion Seltzer Collinwood MC2STEM all JFK Eagle Miles Park JFK Pact Thomas Jefferson Valley View Willson

12 When are the SQR site visits?
We will conduct 10 follow-up SQR visits across CMSD for Adlai Stevenson Glenville LW Global LW Health Newton D Baker Scranton Tremont Walton WC Bryant Wilbur Wright

13 When are the SQR site visits?
Scheduling will begin in early September. Site visits will tentatively begin the week of September 25.

14 When are the SQR site visits?
You will soon receive an asking you to confirm your SQR visit dates from Robin Coyne-Hull, the SchoolWorks Project Manager.

15 What are the SQR site visits?
SQR site visits are 2.5 days long. The first two days are for information gathering and the half day is for reviewing the data and prioritization and planning by the school team.

16 What is Prioritization?
On the third day of the SQR visit the building leadership team will meet in the morning to review the evidence and the ratings from the site visit . Then the SchoolWorks team will lead a planning session based on the evidence collected.

17 What is Prioritization?
Review with all participants the major claims from the site visit. Identify the area of instruction likely to have the most impact on school performance and culture. Align a goal to the current AAP and SSD plans. Develop an action plan.

18 How to prepare? Work with the SchoolWorks PM and Team Lead.
You will begin to receive s about scheduling and a request for an introductory phone call.

19 How to prepare? Provide your team lead with documents to help them prepare your site visit schedule. Master schedule Staff roster Other school schedules or dates Focus group members

20 How to prepare? Explain the SQR visit to your staff.
Explain the purpose. Share the materials. Arrange for class coverage. No evidence is part of TDES or tied to an individual teacher.

21 How to prepare? Plan for the visit.
Reserve a conference room or classroom. Notify your leadership team. Review the protocol. Assemble your documents.

22 How to prepare? Documents include: AAP or CAP and SSD
PD calendar, handouts, feedback TBT minutes BLT minutes SST schedule School handbook Lesson plans School and classroom newsletters

23 How to prepare? Teachers do not need to submit additional plans and should teach their normally scheduled lessons. Teachers will not receive individual feedback from the SQR site team. Only building-level feedback will be offered.

24 How to prepare? Only building-level feedback will be offered.
Feedback will not identify individual teachers or classrooms.

25 How to prepare? Plan your time. Day 1 focus group interviews
Day 2 report out Day 3 prioritization and planning

26 After the SQR Review the SQR report for factual errors.
Implement the plan.
