1 Do your own thing Ecclesiastes 11:9-10

2 Today, many have no moral compass, no direction, no idea what is right or wrong
The world is encouraged to do what they want or like “Do your own thing.” If it feels right – do it. Song – How can it be wrong, when it feels so right? introduction

3 Ecclesiastes 11: Rejoice, in your youth, young man; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. 10 Therefore remove vexation from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for childhood and prime of life are vanity. Solomon’s advice

4 Solomon says: In your youth
Solomon is old as this is written He remembers his youth (young and foolish) Have fun, be happy, have cheer in your heart Many say, “God wants me to be happy.” Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, while the evil days do not come, nor the years draw near, when you shall say, I have no pleasure in them. Solomon says: In your youth

5 Solomon says: (1) follow your heart
Heart = will, desire, emotion, thought Do what your heart desires Do whatever you want, will, think, or feel is right If it feels good – do it. Solomon says: (1) follow your heart

6 Solomon says: (2) if it looks good – do it
Follow your eyes If it looks good – go for it Follow whatever pleases the eye Judges did this – Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel. Every man did the right in his own eyes. Solomon says: (2) if it looks good – do it

7 Solomon says: (2) if it looks good – do it
Eve did – Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make wise, she took of its fruit, and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Satan tempted Jesus – Matthew 4:8-9 Again, the Devil took Him up into a very high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me. Solomon says: (2) if it looks good – do it

8 Solomon says: (2) if it looks good – do it
1 John 2:15-16 Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him, 16 because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Solomon says: (2) if it looks good – do it

9 Solomon says: BUT KNOW - - -
But = a reversal, a contrast, on the other hand Dictionary – Used to introduce a contrast You can follow points 1 & 2 BUT: Know = remember, understand There are consequences Here is something else to keep in mind Solomon says: BUT KNOW - - -

10 Solomon says: You will come to judgment
Every word you speak, Every action you take Every decision you make Everything (good or bad) John 5:28-29 Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves shall hear His voice, and shall come forth, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have practiced evil to the resurrection of condemnation. Solomon says: You will come to judgment

11 Solomon says: youth is vanity
Ecclesiastes 11:10 Therefore remove vexation from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for childhood and prime of life are vanity. Vanity = chasing the wind Empty, hollow, useless Youth is gone quickly – move into adulthood The consequences of your action will remain Solomon says: youth is vanity
