14. Reasons for US Rebuilding Japan
Stop the spread of communism throughout Asia and promote democracy in the region by reforming Japan’s monarchy into a constitutional monarchy (democracy with an emperor with limited power).
Improve Japan’s economy in order to trade with Japan and sell US products to Japan’s market.

15. Work Session
Yellow – You are a Japanese citizen during US occupation/rebuilding of Japan. Write a two paragraph letter to a family member outside of Japan explaining what life is now like with the United States rebuilding Japan.
Blue – In a two paragraph essay, explain the role of the United States in the rebuilding of Japan after WWII and whether you believe the United States had any selfish reasons for rebuilding Japan the way they did.
Green – Create a 5 paragraph persuasive essay about whether the United States should have rebuilt Japan in the method that they did. Make sure you explain the role of the United States in the rebuilding of Japan after WWII.
