2 Famous People Alessandro Volta was an Italian who, in about 1800, built the first battery, a device that provided a steady current of electricity. Andre Ampere was from France, and he worked out principles governing the magnetic effect of an electric current. Samuel Morse from the US created the Morse Code and the telegraph, which became the common communication device in the world.

4 New Methods Telegraph Battery
Transmitted electric signals over wires from location to location that translated into a message. Battery a device that produces electricity from a chemical reaction

5 How did communication methods make the world smaller?
People could communicate easier and significantly faster People knew what was happening around the world, and it brought people together. Long-distance communication was possible with the telegraph.

6 Predictions for impact on Great Britain
Trade will increase, and markets and businesses will grow larger as a result of it. The military and government will grow stronger and become more efficient, as messages can be transferred from group to group.

7 Predictions for how it will spread & how it will impact other countries
It will spread, as the telegraphs and other technology are traded and ideas are spread from person to person. As the telegraph becomes more common, the cables can spread out of just one country and connect with the other countries. It will impact other countries, because all of the countries will be connected more, and news will travel quickly.

8 Is communication the most important factor in the advancement of the Industrial Revolution?
People wouldn’t be able to know about important events happening around the world. Before the telegraph, communicating, especially across continents, took months. As the speed of communication increased, the speed of working increased and work got done in a shorter amount of time. Businesses grew, as people no longer had to wait days before getting information passed along from one person to another. The telegraph was essentially the start of the creation of other important modern technology, such as the telephone and the Internet. If the telegraph or other communication methods hadn’t been invented, then many inventions would not have been even created or would have taken a longer amount of time.
