2 Background the scientific revolution superseded the Medieval view of the world Universities had been established throughout Europe; now it was time to challenge the old approach on knowledge! Renaissance paved the way for the new approach on human being and his possibilities

3 What was it all about? was the emergence of modern science during the ,early modern period, when developments in ,mathematics, ,physics, astronomy, biology (including human anatomy) and chemistry transformed views of society and nature Earth is not anymore the centre of the Universe! Laws of planetary motion ( Kepler) - Earth and all the planets revolved round the sun ( that movement obeyed mathematical laws) (Copernicus-Galileo) Formula for the law of universal gravitation ( Newton) Principles of the circulation of the blood and the working of the heart ( William Harvey)

4 Task Choose one scientist; produce a tiny presentation:
His approach : when ?why ? and how? Explain his main principles and discoveries His effects on the society
