Here is the nine o’clock news. A terrible traffic accident happened on Highway 77 at five this afternoon. A school bus was hit by a truck from the back and about fifteen students were seriously hurt. The truck driver had both his arms broken. All the injured people were sent to hospital immediately. So far no deaths have been reported in the accident. All the students were from Mary Girls’ School.
It is said that bad weather caused the accident. The police told drivers to be more careful on the highways because the weather has not been so good recently. Our reporters will keep an eye on this accident. And more details will be reported in two hours’ time.

8. Fire at Ritz Hotel
This is Bruce Ward WNFD News. There was a serious fire at the Ritz Hotel this afternoon. It started at 3:10 in the kitchen on the first floor.
When reporter arrived at the hotel at 3:25, the first and second floors were on fire and smoke was coming from the third and fourth windows. People were standing at the windows and crying for help, and fire fighters were using ladders to rescue them.
Some people had had burns, and ambulances were to take them to the hospital. While fire fighters were rescuing guests, one man jumped from a second-floor window and broke his legs.
By 4:00 the fire was under control. The fire department is unsure of the cause of the fire.

12. A Terrible Earthquake in Tangshan
At 3:42 am on Judy 28,1976,the greatest earthquake began in Tangshan. It seamed that the world was at an end. Everywhere nearly everything was destroyed. buildings, dams, bridges and railway tracks were all destroyed. A lot of animals died. About more than 400,000 people were killed or injured during this earthquake. What was the worse, another big quake shook Tangshan then.
Before the disaster happened, many strange things happened. But people thought little of them and it happened at midnight. So it was very bad.
The army sent 150,000 soldiers to Tangshan to help the rescue workers to build shelters for survivors whose homes had been destroyed!
