7 Implementing the competency framework: Programme example NOTE: only for use with new staff Phase Course Tutor Hours 1 Introduction to the role Introduction to the team/service 7 hours (full day) 2 RSPH Level 2 Understanding Health Improvement 3 Alcohol IBA & Smoking (Plus additional time for NCSCT) 4 Health Check Training with bloods 14 hours ( 2 days) 5 Mental Health Connect 5 Healthy Diets 2.5 hours ( half day) 2.5 hours (half day) 6 Diabetes/IGR & Physical Activity 7 Services and Signposting Guest speakers Community Mapping

Shorter courses are available which run for two days minimum
8 Implementing the competency framework: Other training issues Additional training is provided on diagnostic tests using POCT and use of GPPAQ, QRISK2 etc Shorter courses are available which run for two days minimum Refresher appraisals in line with framework is also conducted annually Shorter courses have been offered to staff who work alongside health trainers
