1. Sicily trip ( ) 2015.

2. Where were we? In close neighbourhood of Etna volcano.
Bronte- Town in Catania province (Sicily).
Population- Around people.
Total area- 249 km2
Elevation- 760m above the sea level.

3. HOT! First impressions. Lovely people. Delicious food!
Sicilian climate is much warmer and dryer than in Poland.
Lovely people.
Delicious food!
Breathtaking views.

4. What did we see?
Catania centre.
Syracuse.
Etna.
Catania.

5. Learning time!
We learned new things for the whole time in Bronte. Most of them were about health. Physical as well as mental.
We acquried knowledge from many areas and on different topics.

6. Yoga and meditation. The best way to keep calm.
We learned about influence of meditation. The instructor showed us some simple techniques. Most of them are possible to do at any time.
However, we watched a video about some school. That school had a problem with bullying. The headmaster introduced a „15 minutes of silence” each day. That means every student needed to meditate for15 minutes in their classrooms. The rate of bullying declined to almost zero.

7. The power of breakfast!
Sicilian students showed us a short animation about how important is breakfast.
We learned that healthy breakfast should be full of carbs. Fruits are important too. Breakfast needs to be the most important meal during a day.

8. Influence of volcano.
Bronte is near Etna volcano. The powerful creation of mother nature. So people did not have a choice, they needed to learn how to live in symbiosis with it.
We got know that they are ready for any of possible happening. They have special alarm system all around the city. However Etna is under a special seismological observation. So they will know about it in advance. But on the other hand Etna has good influence on Bronte economy, like promoting tourism. Another thing is really good fertilization of ground thanks to which huge plantations of pistachios are grown.

9. Asbestos- dangerous leftover.
We watched a video material made by students. The video was in report style. Some of them were „reporters”, and some were „citizens”. There was even a studio.
We learned about bad influence of using asbestos in the past. Because of that there is an action of removing it and substitute with newer materials. But many of houses in Sicily still have asbestos roofs. Mostly in rural areas. Pieces of asbestos can be inhaled in to the lungs. And this may cause cancer. Removers need to wear a special suit and mask. And that's why it’s very important to take care of it.

10. Great opportunity.
Erasmus + project was excellent to get important knowledge about our world and our health problems.
But we became familiar with different culture. We understood that even if we are from different countries we are all the same. We have the same problems, habits. Reasons to laugh and to cry. We are European students. We are the future. We need to learn about health problems and how to deal with them. Our Erasmus + project was great opportunity to do that.
