2. BRIEF HISTORY OF L&T CO.
It is the biggest legacy of 2 DANISH engineers who built a world class organization that is professionally managed & a leader in India’s engineering & construction industry .
It was the business of cement that brought the young HENNING HOLCK – LARSEN & S.K.TOUBRO into India. They arrived on Indian shores as representatives of DANISH engineering firms FL SMIDTH& CO. in connection with the merger of cement companies that later grouped into ACC (Associated Cement Company).
Together HOLCK-LARSEN & S.K.TOUBRO founded a partnership firm of L&T in 1938 which was converted into a limited co. on FEB.7,1946.

4. EARLY LIFE OF A.M.NAIK BORN ON : JUNE 3, 1942
BORN IN : ENDHAL, GUJRAT.
HE was born into a family of teachers.
HIS father was a teacher & a strict Gandhian.
HE received early education in Navsari.
HE finished a degree in mechanical engineering from the prestigious BIRLA VISWAKARMA MAHAVIDYALAYA engineering college in V.V.NAGAR ANAND.

5. HIS CARRIER
In 1965, Anil. M. Naik joined LARSEN & TOUBRO as a junior engineer & became the youngest manager in the history of the organization.
In 1985, he was made the ‘GENERAL MANAGER’ as he rose quickly through the ranks.
In 1989, he took over as the Vice President of the organization & became the member of the Director Board.
Anil M.Naik’s broader prospective enabled the company to expand its horizons beyond domestic borders & reach a position which enabled it to become a global player.
In 1995, Anil became the President of L&T Co. and in 1999, took over as the CEO & Managing Director.
In 2003, he became the Chairman & Managing Director of the organization.

6. HIS CONTRIBUTIONS
As soon as he took over as the CEO of L&T Co. , he came up with a 90 days action plan.
He brought back a merit system to attract younger generation to the company.
Acc. To him , the best way to attract the younger engineers to an organization was to change the way of rewarding them.
Anil Manibhai Naik was also instrumental in leading the organization through a manufacturing a path which helped to raise the turnover of the company fifty times over in around 8 years.

7. LEGACY
ANIL MANIBHAI NAIK is an inspirational entrepreneur since he dedicated half of his life to make his organizations , the biggest engineering gaint in INDIA & one of the largest in the WORLD.
