1 WHAT IS A GANTT CHART

2 A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart that illustrates a project schedule.
Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the project’s tasks and the project’s milestones.

3 Gantt charts are a way to graphically show the progress of a project.
Management of a project is made easier if it is viewed as small manageable tasks where the task dependencies are visually illustrated. PROJECT MILESTONES THE COMMENCEMENT OF THESE TASKS IS DEPENDENT ON THE COMPLETION OF A PREVIOUS TASK THIS TASK CAN COMMENCE BEFORE THE COMPLETION OF THE PREVIOUS TASK

4 Gantt charts have become a common technique for representing the phases and activities of a project
so they can be understood by a wide audience.

5 CREATING A VIEWPATH SCHEDULE AND GANTT CHART

6 Start by clicking the pull down menu and select NEW TEAM
START THE PROJECT Start by clicking the pull down menu and select NEW TEAM Then enter a name for your team. This process will also create the start of your project RELOCATE OFFICE

7 START THE SUB PROJECTS (i.e. project stages or phases
Click the NEW PROJECT icon – this actually creates a SUB PROJECT (stage or phase) in your project Enter a name for your SUB PROJECT then select OK and repeat for all of the project’s SUB PROJECTS

8 ENTER THE TASKS FOR EACH SUB PROJECT
Add the name and duration for you task. Do not enter the start/finish dates – these will be added automatically when you link your tasks – next step. Select (TICK) a sub project then Select the NEW TASK icon

9 Select (TICK) all sub projects and their tasks
LINK TASKS AND CREATE THE GANTT CHART Click the LINK icon to link your tasks and establish their dependencies. NOTE you can select a task’s box and slide to adjust its start/finish date and dependency. Select (TICK) all sub projects and their tasks
