1 Year 10 Fabric To Fashion – Unit 1 and 2

2 Course Description Students develop an interest in areas of garment and small article construction, with an emphasis on extending their sewing skills, modifying commercial patterns to satisfy the fashion design processes of their chosen garment or article. Students use the technology design process and a variety of sewing techniques and machines to develop samples for their folios. They develop a range of fashion design sketches and complete a mood board for their chosen garment.

3 Student experiences in this unit
Repurposing Denim into a new useful article—requires imagination. Research into the History and manufacturing of Denim. The Elements and Principles of Fashion Design-various activities Sewing techniques and processes to make a simple garment form a commercial pattern Assessment tasks Students will work towards completing the following Assessment tasks; Research Assignment Folio Garment and small article production Class- based worksheets related to each of the course requirements End of Unit Exam with a practical component. All tasks and results are shown online on SiMON and can be viewed anywhere with web access.
