10 I. What is Pre-History? pre = means “before”
history = the record of past events and times

11 II. Migration of early man
Early man migrated from Africa to North America by walking over the - Bering Land Bridge Bering land bridge

12 III. Paleolithic Era (Old Stone Age)
Time = traced back to 2 million BC Where = Africa How do we know? = found a Stone Age skeleton (Lucy)

13 LUCY In 1974, a skeleton was found in Africa. The bones were those of a female, about 20 years old or so when she died. Scientists named her Lucy. About 3 million years ago, when Lucy was alive, she was about 4 feet tall and weighed about 50 pounds. Scientists suspect that she fell into a lake or river and drowned.

14 This time period was known as the Paleolithic Age
