2 Product / Technology Overview
Products / Technologies End-Market Applications Provides competitive advantage in the downstream luminaires and specialized lighting markets Winner of many international awards to date, provides superior light distribution with a lower cost compared to competing LED fixture technologies With 100+ patents filed globally, started production in 2016 Edge-Coupled, Edge Extraction (Edge-X) Automotive A new modular approach to LED packages designed to optimize LED systems and their complex dynamics Approaches highest theoretical package efficiencies Leads to LED package architectures that offer additional control mechanisms for the shaping and distribution of light Advanced Light Sources (ALS) A new solution that works for color shift prediction & stability Offers opportunity to guarantee color behavior to customers without complex monitoring & feedback systems Provides competitive advantages to package, module, and luminaire manufacturers Publicly introduced in March 2017, never before been done Color Prediction & Control Commercial Industrial Covers the expanded architectures of solid-state light sources - linear arrays and areal structures - coupled to sophisticated optics Light Threads: The 1-dimensional linear designs represent the LED equivalent of the incandescent filament but with much expanded capabilities Light Sheets: The 2-dimensional sheet designs developed as inorganic SSL-based alternatives to OLEDs Light Threads / Light Sheets (LS) Horticulture LED Filament Bulbs Includes direct digital dimming (non-PWM) for multi-source systems packages, bulbs, tubes, and fixtures High efficiency at all dimming levels & better integration with digital controls Little power dissipation by the dimming control system, with limited noise or EMI Controls (such as Binary Dimming) Virtual Reality LiFi & IoT |

3 QuarkStar Overview Company Overview QuarkStar Team Ownership
QuarkStar is a startup whose members have included a significant number of the pioneers of solid-state lighting. Lighting itself is a global industry with revenues over $100 billion/year, but has been fundamentally disrupted by the introduction of the LED. Despite the cost savings of energy usage, the increasingly small size of LEDs coupled to higher brightness leads to many new problems such as increased glare and higher initial cost. QuarkStar technologies solves these and other problems by providing fundamentally new ways to control light at every level beyond the LED itself…from the package scale to system scale. QuarkStar solves the principal problems of solid-state lighting, both technical and economic, creating competitive advantages in manufacturing cost, retail economics, and real-world use, especially in categories with the highest profit margins and whose submarkets are experiencing the fastest growth. QuarkStar technologies bring forth the full potential of the LED, micro-LED, laser diode, and other optical semiconductors due to its universal scalability coupled to spatial controls. QuarkStar‘s unique combination of solutions is embodied in more than 300 patent global applications. With over 85 patents allowed to date, its core technologies are already covered internationally. The first of these technologies to be commercially ready is a multiple award-winning waveguide technology, Edge-X – a compact, cost-effective, and scalable lighting solution: Provides award-winning superior performance with lower manufacturing costs (compared to conventional LED technologies) Literally sculpting light in 3D space with sharp & controlled precision Reducing glare through high-precision control optics Modularizing much smaller form factors than other LED technologies Using less energy than conventional LED fixtures Scaling to the decreasing sizes of LEDs, micro-LEDs, Laser Diodes QuarkStar also offers additional technologies solving other fundamental problems in solid-state lighting.
