1 WJEC GCSE Geography (2014) Getting the most from the new WJEC website

2 WJEC homepage 1 2 Use the dialogue box in the top left to find the subject and level. This link will take you to the On line Exam Review (OER) website.

3 OER website Use the quick search dialogue box to find the subject and level. The OER site has an archive of responses to the 2013 exam series. Each response is linked to an examiner commentary and the mark scheme. The site is designed for AfL activities. Candidate responses from 2014 (along with examiner commentaries) will be uploaded during the autumn of 2014.

4 Digital resources Scroll to the bottom of the WJEC homepage to find a link to the WJEC digital resources website. This site holds content that has been migrated from the old NGfL website. You will find a number of FREE digital geography resources for all key stages. Some are short starter activities, others are longer and more involved. Some use graphics from the text book published by Hodder. All are suitable for use on an interactive whiteboard.

6 GCSE Geography A landing page
2 Use the dialogue box on the WJEC homepage to navigate to the landing page for GCSE Geography A. Documents / news items are listed in chronological order – with the most recent additions at the top of the screen. This link is for the PE report that was published in August Scroll down the page to see recent news items, links to key resources and other useful information. Follow the link at the top of the page to find all related documents – including Specifications, Controlled Assessment documentation (including the set tasks and proposal form) and Teacher Guidance notes. 1

7 To access all documents related to this qualification
1 1. If you click the link to all related documents at the top of the landing page you will be taken to the foot of the landing page where the five most useful current documents are listed. 2. To access the other documents (e.g. CPD materials, CA set tasks and CA teacher guidance notes) you need to follow the link to ‘View all documents’. 2

8 Finding grade boundaries
1 2 3 1. If you scroll about half way down the landing page you will find a link to the Raw/ UMS grade boundaries. This will give the raw mark at each grade boundary for each paper. 2. The raw mark / UMS converter opens in a new window. There are four dialogue boxes along the top of the screen. The first box is for the year – default is 2014 but you can check grade boundaries for previous exam series. The second dialogue box (Session) is set by default to ‘Principal Learning and Project June’. You will have to scroll down to GCSE June. 3. The third dialogue box is for subject and unit.

9 1 The fourth dialogue box is for you to select the correct paper. Option 01 is the Foundation tier paper. Option 02 is the Higher tier paper. Please remember that raw mark grade boundaries can change slightly from one year to the next and take into account the performance of the paper.
