2 What is stress? The combination of a new or possibly threatening situation and your body’s natural response to that situation. Stressor: anything that causes a stress response

3 TYPES OF STRESS EUSTRESS: Positive Stress DISTRESS: Negative Stress

4 ACTIVITY IN ONE MINUTE LIST AS MANY THINGS THAT STRESS YOU OUT THAT YOU CAN THINK OF. THEY CAN BE BIG OR SMALL STRESSORS.

Stress response- AKA “fight or flight” Epinephrine- stress hormone that increases level of sugar in the blood and directs “fight or flight” Hormone: Chemical messenger in the body Fatigue: Feeling of extreme tiredness. What are the long term effects of stress? Use table 3 on page 58 in your blue book and complete this chart in your journal.

9 Stress Prevention Get plenty of sleep (8 hours)
Eat fruits and vegetables Set realistic long term and short term goals and reach them Having fun and getting fresh air Believing that every problem has a solution Finding something to laugh about everyday Treating other people with respect, the way you want to be treated
