1 Unemployment of the 1930's in Chicago
After the stock market crash in 1929 about 15 million Americans lost their jobs. Not everyone was effected, the wealthier people were not effected at all. The unemployment rate in the 30s was in the 20% range, the highest our country had ever experienced Being in a different ethnic group definitely effected who had a job. Employers would prefer to have white men work for them. Minorities were blamed for harming the economy and were first to lose their own jobs, And if they kept their job they would often get paid less. Josh Dutko, Sarah Goepfert, Jennifer Mocek, Alex V

2 The Depression caused emotional break downs everywhere.
The suicide rate increased. When failed at finding a job people lost their faith. People began to do anything they could to support their family.
