Gabriel Morega , a Spanish Explorer discovered and named the Sacramento Valley and the river from the Spanish.
In 1833ies a violent epidemic killed the native population of the valley. About poeple died which paved the way for a settlement ofnew settlers.

4. On february 2nd, 1848, the Treaty of Guadalupe caused the incorporation of California in the United States and it is separation from Mexico.
Sacramento was founded in December 1848 by John Sutter and much later John Sutter Junior named the city after the Sacramento river , that's why the city is called River City by its inhabitants . Sacramento developed from the Gold Rush.
