Selecting a College Factors to Consider:
Academic eligibility (A-G, G.P.A.) Academic programs (majors) Student body (demographics, size) Cost (tuition, books, housing, transportation) Campus life (social activities, interests, career opportunities) Location (urban/suburban/rural setting, distance from home) Before your student begins to fill out multiple college applications, they really need to make sure that they do their research on the university. Example: UCLA does not offer a B.A. in business UCR has the Thomas Haider program in Bio Medical Sciences where 24 seats (admission) are reserved exclusively for UCR students.

Scholarship Information
Visit and the Career Center for updated scholarship resources. Scholarship Bulletin: scholarships Scholarship searches on the Internet. Be wary of scholarship scams! You never have to pay to apply for a scholarship. Check place of employment, church, organizations to which you belong, local newspaper, etc. You must invest time and energy in scholarship search & application! Check with the individual colleges/universities as well. It is recommended that students fill out a Senior Information Packet if applying for scholarships. Lastly, we encourage students to always follow-up with a thank you card to all organizations that grant them scholarships.
