1 Station #1– CO2 Solubility
Carbon Forms: Exsolution: CO2 (aq) CO2(g) Dissolution: CO2(g) CO2 (aq) Substances with HIGH solubility tend to stay in the liquid CO2 is MORE soluble in COLD water when compared to WARMER water Shows carbon in the form of CO2 moves more rapidly to hot water than from cold water. Carbon dioxide is more soluble in cold water than hot water. BIG ideas for each station – Have copy on station notes IF no room okay on back

2 Station #2 – Soil Leaching
Soil is a mixture of random plants and animals in various stages of decay DOC is the main form of carbon– okay if you stated, dirt, soil or glucose Carbon from soil (land, terrestrial environments) to rivers or lakes (water)

3 Station #4 – Limestone Metamorphism
Represents Carbon moving from inside the earth to the atmosphere Limestone that has undergone metamorphosis = Marble CO2 and CaCO3 are the major forms of carbon represented at this station

4 Station #5 – Making Limestone
CaCO3 sinks to the bottom of the beaker – deeper water 2NaHCO Na + 2HCO3 CaCl Ca + 2Cl Carbon ENDED in the form of CaCO3 and CO2 CaCl2 was more alkaline (base) compared to the NaHCO3 Mixing the 2 made a stronger acid -- Precipitate of “limestone” at the bottom of beaker Carbon moving from the ocean water to the seafloor.

5 Station #6 -- Photosynthesis
Carbon Forms: CO2, C6H12O6 6H2O + 6CO2 + energy C6H12O O2 Carbon moving from atmosphere (air) to vegetation (plants).

6 Station #7 – Microbial Respiration
Carbon Forms: C6H12O6, CO2 , C2H5OH, CH4 C6H12O CO CH4 Demonstrating that Carbon decaying in soil can release as more that just CO2. Carbon movement from soils to atmosphere.

7 Station #8 – Respiration Station
Carbon Forms: C6H12O6, CO2 C6H12O6 + 6O H2O + 6CO2 + energy Carbon movement from food to the atmosphere.
