6. Balance
The parts of a design are arranged so they achieve a feeling of rest and equilibrium
Refers to how lines, shapes, colors, textures, and patterns are used to break up an area or space into parts.
The elements can be manipulated to increase or decrease visual weight.

7. Symmetrical Balance: formal balance in which both sides are the same.
Asymmetrical Balance: Informal This type of balance tends to draw attention to a particular area of the body.
Symmetrical Balance: formal balance in which both sides are the same.

8. Pattern
Uses repeated art elements to enhance surfaces. Pattern can be regular or random.

9. Emphasis
Highlighting an area with color, value, or shape

10. Contrast
Differences in the elements of a piece of work

11. Unity
Provides a cohesive quality that make a piece feel complete. When all the pieces look as though they belong together, harmony and unity has been achieved.

12. Rhythm
The repetition of visual movement, color, shapes, or lines. Variety keeps rhythms exciting and active to avoid monotony.

13. Movement
Directs viewers site line through a piece using lines, shapes, values, or colors
