1 Journal Entry # 16: April 7 Legend Fable

2 A myth is a fictional tale that explains the actions of gods or heroes or the origins of elements of nature. Myths are part of the oral tradition. They are composed orally and then passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth. Different cultures have their own different myths. Myths:

3 Legends A legend is a widely told story about the past-one that may or may not have a foundation in fact. Every culture has its own legends; its familiar, traditional stories.

4 Fables A fable is a brief story or poem, usually with animal characters, that teaches a moral or a lesson. Fables are about animals that can talk and act like people, or plants or forces of nature like thunder or wind. The plants may be able to move and also talk and the natural forces cause things to happen in the story because of their strength. The most famous fables were written by a man called Aesop. We know them as Aesop’s Fables, and he wrote more than 600 of them.
