Describe weather by using quantitative measures of: Temperature, Wind Direction, Wind Speed, and Precipitation. Competency Goal:2,04 Identify/use common tools to measure weather: Wind Vane, anemometer, thermometer, rain gauge

3 Weather Weather is what is happening in the air outside right now.
A sunny day… A rainy day. A cold day…

4 Temperature Temperature is how hot or cold the weather is.
Thermometer-It tells how hot or cold it is. Hot Cold

5 Precipitation Precipitation is any type of moisture falling from the sky. Rain-Droplets of water falling from the sky Snow-Ice crystals falling softly Sleet or hail-Small or large pieces of ice

6 Wind Speed Wind is the movement of air
Wind can be a soft breeze or hurricane force winds of 75 miles or more Hurricane force winds Soft Breeze

7 Wind Direction Wind can blow from any direction
Winds blowing from the south bring warm weather Winds blowing from the north bring cold weather

8 Wind Direction Wind direction is measured by a wind vane or a wind sock. Wind direction is also measured by an anemometer. Wind Sock Wind Vane
